Door technicians throughout the world were
recognized for their valuable contributions to the industry on June 27,
as IDA sponsored SuperTech Day. Dealers throughout the United
States, Mexico, Canada, and Australia reported successful events in
which they paid special tribute to their door techs. SuperTech Day
is the result of a recommendation by Alejandro Soto, Merik Industries
during the 2008 Affiliate Leadership Conference. It will now be an
annual event celebrated annually on the last Friday of June.

Applegate Door of Philomath,
Oregon celebrated SuperTech day with breakfast of biscuits and
gravy, eggs, hash browns and juice, prepared by the office staff.
The breakfast was followed by a short meeting, new SuperTech Shirts
and snack-bags complied of jerky, peanuts and cookies. |

Sunshine Door of
Red Deer, Alberta, Canada started the day off with a
motivational speaker from Dale Carnegie Training. After a barbeque lunch
the crew enjoyed an afternoon of golf. |

The first annual "Supertech Breakfast" was held on Friday, June 27 at
Apple Door of Richmond, Virginia's Pocoshock store. The
purpose was to join the national celebration to salute garage door
installers around the country for their hard work and craftsmanship. The
celebration was originally proposed by The International Door
Association (IDA).

Garage Door & Gate Solutions are required under
Australian Occupational Health and Safety laws to "test
and tag" all corded power tools and extension leads, to ensure they are
safe to use. John and Andrew, from Hi Tech Testing & Tagging are
seen in one of the attached images going through the installers power
tools, with their $4,000 tester (pictured). They do this 4 times a year.
On the same day as the tools are tested, they have a "toolbox talk",
discuss a whole range of issues, conduct training, go out to lunch, and
generally find the day to be an excellent bonding opportunity. In the
other image, they training the guys on the use of new mobile
debit/credit card payment machines.
