Super Tech Day was proposed and endorsed during the 2008 Door
Industry Congress produced by IDA. The event was successfully
conducted for the first time in June 2008.
“This is a great way for us to expedite the growing recognition
that our installers and service technicians are the backbone of our
industry,” said IDA President Bob Hammersley. “We
envision this event as expanding to promote the importance of our
products to the general public, and to establish that professionals are
best qualified to work with these products in a way that maximizes
security, public safety and customer satisfaction.”
IDEA President Mark Daus echoed those remarks. “The
campaign to recognize industry professionalism has consistently gained
momentum in recent years,” Hermanns said.
“International Super Tech Day is a logical next step in this
emerging trend.”
The event’s purpose is to recognize door and access systems
technicians around the world for their contributions to the success of
door dealerships, and to the value and professionalism of the
industry. Dealers will be encouraged to take part by paying
tribute to their crews. (See Related Article on “Ways

IDA WANTS TO BE A PART OF YOUR CELEBRATION!
Please send us photos and descriptions of what your
company did to celebrate Super Tech Day. Here are a few things to
consider that can greatly enhance the quality of your photos and project
descriptions: If you are using a point-and-shoot digital camera, select
the highest resolution possible. If weather permits, take your photo
outside during daylight hours or select an inside area that is well lit.
Group shots in front of hung banners or company signs are great. Take
several photos of each pose.
As you transfer your digital photos
from your camera to your computer, be sure to save them in one of the
most common formats: JPEG (.jpg), TIFF (.tiff) or .RAW (.raw). Name the
photos to reflect your company’s name, for example:
JonesDoorsJasperCO.jpg. Once you save them, review them and send in the
best two or three photos.
When you report your activities, please remember to send us the 5
W’s: who, what, where, when, why and how. Make
note of any special information – such as who has been with you
the
longest, etc. Thanks in advance for sending us your celebration
information. We will post the information on the website and include
photos in upcoming issue of
ID&OI.
Here are two ways to send them:
