EPA
LEAD-BASED PAINT RULES - In early 2009, IDA alerted its membership
regarding rules issued by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
requiring the use of safe practices when working in certain properties
constructed before 1978 where lead-based paint was or may be
present. Those rules went into effect April 22, 2010, and now
members must follow those practices in any property subject to the
rules.
IDASSURANCE
™ - The IDA is in the process of
establishing its very own business insurance company for IDA dealer
members. Initially, the program will provide
business insurance for members in the United States, but plans call for
future coverage in Canada. For details

DOORTECH
™ TRAINING – In cooperation and partnership with the
Institute of Door Dealer Education and Accreditation, the IDA introduced
an interactive, DVD training program designed for residential garage
door technicians in 2005. Dealers throughout
the world are now using this tremendous training
program.
IDA
AFFILIATES – IDA Affiliate organizations provide localized,
and meaningful services and programs for dealers. Speakers on timely topics, supplier contacts, social events,
and legislative/regulatory activities are among the many values enjoyed
by those who participate.
EXPO – The International Garage Door Exposition is the
premiere educational event in the door and access systems
industry. Thousands of dealers attend each
year. Education. Exhibits. Golf. Motorcycle
Run.
JUNE
GARAGE DOOR SAFETY MONTH - This Safety Awareness program was
created through a joint effort of the International Door Association
(IDA), and Door & Access Systems Manufacturers Association (DASMA),
to help companies and individuals within the garage door industry
promote safe use and operation of the products we sell, install, and
service.
