IDA is governed by a Board of Directors who are elected by the membership. Directors serve a three year term.

2019 IDA Board of Directors Nominees

Below are candidates for the 2019 IDA Board of Directors Election. Each one of them has been vetted and selected by the Nomination and Heritage Committee, but it is up to the IDA Membership to make the final decision. 

The Election will launch at the beginning of 2019.

Region 1

Nancy Peloquin 

Company: Ridgefield Overhead Doors
City/State: Ridgefield, CT

Nancy Peloquin graduated Darien High School 1971 and attended Naugatuck Community College.  
Peloquin founded Ridgefield Overhead Doors, LLC 21 years ago with husband Paul. She is responsible for the office staff, phones, advertising, bookkeeping, and invoicing. They grew the business from the 2 of them working out of their own garage/home to their current location with 6 employees; 4 trucks and 2 sales vehicles.
Peloquin was part of the team that created the PDA of New England and was a board member as well as secretary for the first 5 years.
Peloquin has been married for 21 years and has 5 children and 6 grandchildren.  Hobbies include flying, kayaking, cooking, traveling, softball, entertaining and doing all kinds of crafts.

"I believe I can bring a fresh perspective to the IDA by being able to relate to the smaller business owners.  I’m a committed supporter of the IDA and have experienced firsthand all that it provides to guide and encourage success to every business owner that takes advantage all the IDA has to offer."


Dave Plowman

Company: P.D.Q Door
City/State: Hampden, ME

David Plowman attended the University of Southern Maine. He is the President of P.D.Q Door, which he founded in 1994. Today they have 68 employees in 6 locations. 
Plowman has been a Friend of the NRA since 2009. He spent 9 years coaching youth softball and 3 years fundraising for the Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of the Hampden Town Council for 6 years and spent 2 years on the PDA of New England Board of Directors. 
In 2009 Plowman received the Hampden Business Man of the Year award. In 2011 P.D.Q Door was the recipient of the IDA Joe Caputo Dealer of the Year Award. 
He has been married for 35 years and has 4 children and 8 grandchildren. Hobbies include hunting, fishing, shooting, and spoiling his grandchildren.  

"I have attended all but two of the IDA/DODA Expos over the past 27 years. P.D.Q Door was one of the first IDEA accredited dealerships in New England. IDA/IDEA helps make our door dealerships more professional. As I wind down my career and begin passing the day to day duties of running P.D.Q to others, I feel that I now have the time to give some of my time and energy back to IDA. Over the years, IDA has given me a wealth of knowledge and personal connections through the door industry. I would be honored to help strengthen and grow IDA."


Region 3

Jim McGrath (Incumbent)

Company: Doors Galore
City/State: Clayton, OH

Jim McGrath holds an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science. 
McGrath is the CEO of Doors Galore in Clayton, Ohio. 
McGrath is the incumbent director for Region 3, Expo chair for 2019 and past co-chair of the Member Services committee. 
He has been volunteering for IDA for the past 3 years, each year serving on multiple committees and sub-committees with the singular purpose of bettering the door industry. 
Outside of IDA, McGrath has also participated on various boards and committees and has served in a number of Fire Departments over the years.   
McGrath and his wife of 40 years enjoy traveling in their camper and on a plane because that is what “semi-retired couples do”.
"It’s hard to believe I have been on the board for the past three years. I take the position very seriously and reflect on the decisions and direction the current board is currently taken and I'm proud of it. I take ownership in it. This board has undertaken some of the hardest decisions ever and I have been right in the middle of it. When I first took my seat, I never expected the level of commitment necessary to do the job right. IDA deserves Directors that are unselfish and willingness to provide the leadership necessary to help our industry grow and flourish. In the coming weeks and months, if I should be re-elected, I would like to grow our membership one dealer at a time. As large as our industry is, our membership should be larger here in the USA and abroad. Emphasis on educating our smaller dealers on the benefits of IDA and joining our ranks is always paramount. Dealers are the backbone of our industry and without them IDA is nothing." 

Jonathan Stewart

Company: Midwest Garage Door Company
City/State: Pawnee, IL

Jonathan Stewart studied Business and Accounting at Illinois College, Lincoln Land Community College, and Southwestern Illinois College. 
Stewart is Owner/Vice President of Midwest Garage Door Company in Pawnee, Illinois.  He is a second generation door guy and has been in and around the industry since 1994.  He started helping his father by doing general warehousing tasks, moved into a commercial installation and service position, and moved through the office and administration ranks.  
Since 2012, Jonathan has served as a Director on the Board for the Central States Door Dealer Association and as President of their St. Louis Chapter.  
Stewart enjoys spending time with his wife Allison and three daughters Kaylie, Paislie, and Skyelie. He also is a volunteer firefighter and assists the local EMS unit. In 2018, he started volunteering at the local community youth group to help guide and develop the local youth. His hobbies include recreational and tournament fishing, golfing, camping, and family vacations to Disney or some tropical Island. Hobbies include going to sporting events of any kind and live music. 
"I am running for a position on the IDA Board of Directors for several reasons.  I love my industry and want to help advance it into the future to be the best industry it can be.  I want to be able to assist other companies and people in the industry with any issues, whether they are legal, technical, and logistical.  I want to be a resource for the industry and share my knowledge with my peers.  I would like to bring and implement new fresh ideas to the industry along with shoring up some of the current processes.  
I am all about giving back to the industry that has given so much to me, my family, and my peers.  This industry is full of great minds and people and why wouldn’t anybody want to help assist them or receive assistance from them.  I currently have been volunteering my time with the Central States Door Dealer Association, and want to bring some of that talent and knowledge into the IDA to hopefully assist it forward for the future."

Region 8 

Brandon Martin

Company: Martin Garage Door of Nevada
City/State: Las Vegas, NV

Brandon Martin holds a Masters of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science Psychology from the University of Utah. 
Martin is the Assistant Manager of Martin Garage Door of Nevada holding everything from management to sales. Prior to that, Martin was the Manager and Owner of Custom Garage Door. 
Martin participates in the Children Safety Fair in Utah and specialized in Door Dealership Management. He is an Eagle Scout and in 1994 received an award from the Boy Scouts of America. 
Martin is fluent in Spanish. His wife and kids are his life. Hobbies include running and boxing. 

"Overhead doors have been an important part of my life since a very young age. I plan to work in this industry for years to come. Safety in our industry is very important to me. We all want happy customers; I think we should want safe and happy customers. We have a great industry with very brilliant people involved - engineers, manufacturers, managers, sales, technical personnel. We all make up this industry. I want to be more involved in it. This is why I would like to serve." 

Andy Pomroy

Company: Windsor Door Sales, Inc.
City/State: Albuquerque, NM

Andy Pomroy holds a Bachelor’s in History and English.  He is also an IDA Accredited Dealer.
Pomroy is the Owner and Operator of Windsor Door Sales, Inc. in Albuquerque New Mexico, a family owned business that has been serving the community for decades. 
Pomroy has presented several EXPO seminars, sharing experience in diverse subjects related the door industry. He also served as Industry expert on 2 national television specials focusing on the garage door industry for Dateline NBC and the Rossen Reports on the Today Show.
Pomroy currently serves as an IDA representative on the IDEA Board.
Hobbies include playing golf, exercising and trying not to finish last every year in his fantasy football league.

"This industry has been my entire life.  It has provided many blessings and benefits for me and my family. I feel an obligation to try and make this industry better and help those who are in the industry find a way to succeed. Being a part of the IDA board would help grant me that opportunity."


Industry Members

Erin Fimbel

Company: Fimbel Architectural Door Specialties
City/State: Flemington, NJ

Erin Fimbel has a Bachelor’s Degree of Sociology and Emergency & Environmental Management from the University of Delaware.  
Fimbel is President of Fimbel Architectural Door Specialties. She worked her way up through various office positions, to product manager, and then President of the company. She is responsible for planning both short and long-term goals and directives, overseeing production, and working to further the innovative vision Fimbel doors have become known for. 
Fimbel has served on the board of the Professional Door Association of New England, including as the PDANE’s Marketing Committee Chair. She has been recognized as a Leading Women Entrepreneur, and has been a recipient of the Smart CEO Family Business Award.
In her spare time, she enjoys fostering dogs. 
"My family has been in the door industry for 94 years. We were honored to receive the IDA Heritage Award in 2016 and I would be proud to serve an industry which has supported my family for over four generations.

One of Fimbel’s values is to “make others successful.” The PDA and IDA have a similar message and demonstrate that a rising tide lifts all boats. Through my involvement in the PDA, I’ve learned the importance of building relationships, and the great things that come from working together and respecting one another. I’m grateful for my involvement on the PDA Board and for the connections I’ve made. My competitors have become my friends. I’ve elevated my business and myself as a leader. I want others to have the opportunity to grow and improve as I have. I’m passionate about sharing my experience and would be honored to take the next step and serve on the IDA Board.

Martin Gendreau


Martin Gendreau earned a business degree from HEC Montreal in 2002. He also attended business school at Bentley College in Waltham, Massachusetts, and spent a semester studying at ESADE Business School - part of the Ramon Llull University - in Barcelona. Gendreau is currently the co-president at Garaga Garage Doors Inc. He has always worked in the family business and in 2007, after acting as an intern for numerous departments within the company, was appointed to the position of sales manager. In 2016, Gendreau was named co-executive vice-president of Garaga Garage Doors Inc.  During past IDAExpo events, Gendreau has participated in sessions of the IDA Young Professional’s Network (YPN) and he is an ongoing contributor to the IDA Scholarship Foundation, of which Gendreau has always been an advocate. He has served on the board of the Rabaud Industry, a non-profit company employing 40 people with intellectual disabilities. Gendreau is the father of three children. His hobbies include spending time with his family and playing with his children, bicycling and skiing.  

"I feel it would be a privilege to serve on the IDA Board.  I am committed to the growth of the garage door industry. Following in my father’s footsteps on the IDA board, would be an honor I would be proud of. Now that Garaga is present in 40 States in America with the recent acquisition of Mid-America plant and operations, I’ll add a wider spectrum of knowledge on the needs and challenges faced by the members of the association. When IDA flourishes, members get huge benefits. I can help the team, I’m ready."


Jim McGinley (Incumbent)

Company: LiftMaster 
City/State: Oak Brook, IL

Jim McGinley holds a degree in finance and economics from Elmhurst College. He is currently the director of sales at LiftMaster. McGinley worked his way up the ranks at LiftMaster, starting as national accounts manager, then moved from regional sales manager to national sales manager. He is a recipient of the LiftMaster Award of Excellence. Prior to LiftMaster, McGinley was the national sales manager at Whitehall Products and the vice president/owner at Midwest Industries. McGinley is a current IDA board member and chair of the Scholarship Foundation Board. McGinley is a 15-year community volunteer in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, serving on the Building and Zoning Board and working with the REACH program. He is a member of the IDA High Roller Club. His hobbies include volunteering at the local dog rescue, participating on the Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT), fishing, camping, and spending time with family. 
"Preparing for the future is important to me.  As legislative, technology, consolidation, generational and economic change continue to challenge our industry, it is my goal to be part of an IDA leadership team which ensures that all of us are ready for what tomorrow brings."  


Shaun Murphy

Company: Martin Door Manufacturing 
City/State: Draper, UT

Shaun Murphy attended the University of Utah, where he studied business and Utah State University, where he studied communications. He is an integrity sales facilitator and is ISO9001, MRP and ISO2001 Certified. Murphy is the vice president of sales for Martin Door Manufacturing. Murphy has been in the industry for several decades, starting with Martin Door Manufacturing in 1984 as a dealer sales manager and from 1991 to 1996, managed the Distribution Center at Northwest Door Inc. From 1996 to 2012, Murphy was national sales manager of Martin Door Manufacturing and was the sales manager at Amarr Entrematic from 2013 to 2015. Murphy served on the IDA Board of Directors from 2009 to 2011 and has served on multiple committees, including as chair of Education and Technology Committee. 

"I have a broad knowledge of our industry. I began in the door industry in 1984 repairing roll formers, presses and maintaining other manufacturing equipment.  I worked in the parts department and eventually moved into National Sales. I worked as a retail sales manager for a local service and installation company after a couple of years, I went back to a garage door manufacturer, Northwest Door opening their first distribution center in Salt Lake City, Utah.  After roughly 4 years, I moved to Southern California to open a garage door distribution center for Northwest Door.  After establishing this DC, I returned to Salt Lake City as National Sales Manager for Martin Door Manufacturing.  After 15 years, I left Martin Door to work for Amarr Door as Sales Manager of Northern California, Northern Nevada, Idaho and Utah.  I returned to Martin door as Vice President of Sales in 2015. I previously served on the IDA board as an Industry Director for 3 years.  I participated in many committee meetings advocating for our industry.  I believe in the value the IDA brings to the consumer and the dealer.  I am committed in bringing a standard to the industry, so consumers are g
etting safe, quality products by reputable dealers throughout the world."
