IDA HOMEOWNER-ORIENTED WEBSITE

IDA members are benefitting from a new website implemented by the association – www.GarageDoorCare.com.   The site is designed to provide homeowners with timely and valuable information pertaining to how one should approach the need to maintain a garage door system, and when it is wise to contact a professional, IDA member.

“We know how important garage door safety is, and how proper maintenance can help eliminate related safety issues,” stated Cathy Buckingham, Chairperson, IDA Communications and Public Affairs Committee.  “By providing useful and meaningful information to homeowners via the website, it will help us accomplish the goal of informed consumers, and drive people to reliable service via IDA dealer members,” she added.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING AT YOUR FINGERTIPS

Understanding the need to make education and training opportunities easier for door dealers, and to expand education and training programming, the IDA introduces its new and unique Education and Training Website. In the making for several months, the new website offers a variety of easy-to-use programs and services for IDA members with many more in the making.

Bill Gibson, Chairperson, IDA Technology and Education Committee, states, “It is high time the IDA entered the world of electronic education and training, and we are very excited about this new website.” What you’ll see when you go to the site is just the tip of the iceberg as to what will be in store for you in the future,” he added.

Accreditation and Certification Testing Now Made Easier…

Of utmost importance to dealers is the creation of a new means of taking an IDEA accreditation and/or certification examination. The IDA has now made it possible for qualified individuals to take these exams via proctored, electronic sites throughout the United States and Canada.

The cost to test locally is very reasonable, and will be especially attractive to dealers who can’t afford to have an employee travel to take a test…both time wise and financially. By taking a proctored, electronic test, a person can virtually schedule the test via the IDA education website when it is convenient for them to do so. This new form of testing is easy, economical, convenient, and within driving distance of most dealer businesses.

IDA SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION CONTINUES TO SERVE

Recently, the IDA Scholarship Selection Committee met and confirmed several well deserving individuals to receive scholarships to help make it possible for them to continue their education. With the confirmation of these outstanding scholarship recipients, the IDA Scholarship Foundation has contributed $712,650 in scholarships since it was formed.
